Rain Day

Oh so original title eh? I wish it were still snowing . One thing that I love about the snow is the uniformity of it. Everything is covered in this layer of white and for the first few hours everything is untouched. The cars in the neighborhood stop coming, everyone goes inside and as the snow falls theres this calmness and serenity about everything. I love it. And then the snowmen start appearing, the slushy grey snow on the car tire piles up and then the calm, uniformity of it all turns into this slushy, muddy mess. Especially when it rains. Ughh- go away rain!

Snow Day

So I didn't paint anything today- although I did get someone tell me that my last painting looked sort of bob ross like. haha.
He was crazy and i learned a lot from him without really knowing it. Oh bob ross- why were you so depressed and high all the time.

anyways, I went to work with the roads clear and came back with crazy amounts of snow! Would seem like the perfect inside day to paint eh? Well not really, I spent so long organzing my paints today that I had to get back to studying. Oh well, soon enough. Good thing that acrylic paints dry so fast, I could never paint with oils. They take weeks to dry- hold up-while im typing this my attention shifts over to the old navy commercial about the ankle pants and flats. Is it just me or is that commercial not the most ridiculous thing every- not to mention that the word "ankle show" in their jingle at one point does not sound like ankle!

oh heres something about me- I boycott commercials that make me mad. too bad, i kinda liked old navy

person behind the name on the bottom right hand corner

Sometimes when you look at a painting, when you get so encaptured by its point of view or enraged by its simplistic abstract ways you look for the signed name on the bottom corner of the canvas. All that you may know about that name is that they painted that picture, the emotions they brought out in you- and thats it. I mean, okay, yeah of course you can read the artist
biography and read the very selectively written description about themselves..but who are they? People spend thousands of dollars on art pieces, do you think that they would choose to support an artist who may be hitting the acid once in awhile? And of course there are tons of famous pieces of work out there that have been commissioned or done by people on drugs. heck, some of the greatest discoveries in science have been made in delusions and non consciousness. What im trying to say is that person, that person whos artwork that you chose to bring into your house could have been anyone. A bible thumper, a rapist, a soup kitchen volunteer, a coke head, anyone. Isn't that strange? I mean when I paint, especially recently, it takes me away from the world. I never want my roomates to come home and need to use the living room that I hogged up with my art supplies. I never want the brush strokes to end somedays. Because somedays the reality of life is not as joyful as painting is. I mean, im only 21, theres ups and downs in life and there are going to be lots more to come, I guess im just thankful that I have something that allows me to get away. I dont think everyone can say that.  haha the whole point of this post - before i got side tracked-was to put out a better understanding of person that is behind the name that I sign my canvases with. And no, this isn't my weird way of telling you that im a bible thumper, rapist or coke head haha.
I love going to galleries and again i find it interesting how someone can go to a gallery, purchase a painting for $11,000, and not know anything about the person who painted it. I've always wished that their bio's be placed next to their pieces because I always want to know. So enough of being a hypocrite, here's a little about me, the person behind the signature. - coming to a blogpost near you aka the next post :) happy p90x'ing to meee
